KELOWNA — It’s hard to say what is more impressive, the 50 tournament wins 16-year-old Ethan Posthumus has accumulated as a junior golfer or his 15 holes-in-one.
“I started golf at a really young age,” the Coquitlam resident explained. Needless to say, he got very good very fast.
Golf writer Brad Ziemer will be contributing articles all week during the Mackenzie Tour’s GolfBC Championship at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club in Kelowna. Here’s his list of 10 players to keep an eye on this week:
Noah Steele: This Kingston, Ont. native leads the Mackenzie Tour points list despite only playing in three of the six events to date. Steele, a member of Golf Canada’s national amateur team, won the Osprey Valley Open near Toronto by six shots and was second at the Brudenell River Classic in Prince Edward Island. He tied for 10th last week at the ATB Financial Classic in Calgary. Nine of his 11 rounds on the Mackenzie Tour this season have been in the 60s.
KELOWNA, BC – The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada has confirmed dates for the 2021 GolfBC Championship. September 20 – 25 will see a field of 144 professionals tee it up at Gallagher’s Canyon for the fifth playing of the event in Kelowna. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.

Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada cancels 2020
(Kelowna, B.C.) – The Mackenzie Tour –
PGA TOUR Canada announced today that the 2020 season has been cancelled due to
the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis.
The GolfBC Championship, which was originally scheduled for June 11-14, has been postponed until 2021.
The GolfBC Group is pleased to announce a $150,000 donation to charity at the 2019 GolfBC Championship held at Gallagher’s Canyon Golf & Country Club, bringing the total charitable contribution over the four years to $600,000.
While the BC Cancer Foundation remained as the tournament’s designated charity beneficiary and received a donation of $100,000, GolfBC also committed to direct a portion of this year’s donation to support a local charity or not-for-profit program that serves and benefits the Okanagan region. The Kelowna community was invited to help select this year’s secondary charity beneficiary, and after an overwhelming response of nominations and votes, it was announced that the Central Okanagan Food Bank would be the recipient of a $50,000 donation.
