KELOWNA, BC – The Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada has confirmed dates for the 2021 GolfBC Championship. September 20 – 25 will see a field of 144 professionals tee it up at Gallagher’s Canyon for the fifth playing of the event in Kelowna. The 2020 tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.
“We are thrilled to announce that the GolfBC Championship will return with a new Autumn date, and we are confident we will present a first- class tournament,” commented Tournament Director Hugh Vassos. “We also look forward to hosting a number of the top Canadian players and providing them an opportunity to play at one of the best golf courses in country. This will certainly bode well for the future of the game in Canada” added Vassos.
GolfBC and Gallagher’s Canyon Golf Club look forward to welcoming back the GolfBC Championship at its new fall date and continuing the momentum and positive community impact of the first four seasons of the event.
The Mackenzie Tour and tournament organizers continue to monitor issues surrounding the global pandemic, and they have worked with local and provincial health authorities and will continue to do so leading up to the tournament. The province has not yet granted approval to play, but organizers remain encouraged that the tournament will be able to take place based on the vaccine roll out.
This year’s event will once again offer individuals the opportunity to experience playing in the Pro-Am which has become the highlight of the week for many local businesses and avid golfers alike in the Okanagan.
The tournament’s last champion was Jake Knapp, winning in 2019. Numerous Mackenzie Tour alumni have gone on to play on the PGA TOUR including two-time PGA TOUR winner and BC native Nick Taylor, BC native Adam Hadwin, as well as Mackenzie Hughes and Corey Connors.
